Das Programm zeigt eine große Vielfalt von Kompositionen, deren Inspirationsquelle der berühmteste Ritter der Geschichte, Don Quixotte de Lamancha, seine Geliebte, die gnädige Dulcinea del Tobosso, und sein Diener Sancho Pansa sind. Seit dem Barock bis in die Moderne hat Miguel de Cervantes Musiker inspiriert, seine Kreatur durch die Musik lebendig werden zu lassen. Es wird dazu über die Entstehung der Stücke erzählt, unter anderen vom großen russischen Bassisten, Feodor Challiapin, dessen Bühnenausstrahlung nicht weniger als 6 Komponisten dazu bewegt hat, Don Quixotte Lieder für ihn zu vertonen, darunter eine ganze Oper.

Our program focuses on music inspired by the most famous knight in history: Don Quixotte. 
Miguel de Cervantes' parody on the knight literature, which was so popular in Spain of the 17th century, has inspired composers from as early as the Baroque era till our time. We will present a surprising selection of songs dedicated either to Don Quixotte, his one and only love Dulcinea, or his faithful servant, Sancho Pansa.
We will also tell the stories of the composers who chose to write music to Don Quixotte's story, and the amusing story of the legendary Russian bass Feodor Challiapin, whose unforgettable stage presence inspired no less than 6 composers to dedicate "Don Quixottes" for him, one of them even composed for him an entire Opera.
